JoAnn Louise Baranski, age 90, passed away Sunday, June 10, 2012 at Covenant Health Care – Cooper in Saginaw, following a short period of declining health. She was born on January 1, 1922 on the family farm in Caro, the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary Dudek. The former JoAnn Dudek was united in marriage with Frank Joseph Baranski on November 21, 1942 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Caro. JoAnn was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, the V.F.W. Women's Auxiliary, and the Polish American Club of Caro. She enjoyed reading, cooking and spending time with her grandchildren.
JoAnn is survived by her husband of nearly seventy years, Frank Baranski of Caro; two daughters, Cheryl & George Drukas of Troy, and Judith & Michael Zahn of Lisle, Illinois; four grandchildren and their spouses, Nicholas & Syndi Drukas of Henderson, Nevada, Alexander & Andrea Drukas of Rochester Hills, Aryn Zahn of Lake in the Hills, Illinois, Andrew & Jessica Zahn of Cortland, Illinois; one great-granddaughter expected in August, Gia Grace Drukas; two sisters and their husbands, Alyce & Col. Fredrick Haase (USA Ret.) of Caro, Lillian & Bob Musiet of Carleton. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four sisters, Mary Janowski, Estelle Romain, Emily Jacob, and Florence Szostak; and three brothers, Joseph, Edward and an infant brother.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 15, 2012 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Caro with Rev. Dennis Kucharczyk officiating. Burial will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Caro. The family will receive friends at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home on Thursday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and at the church on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at 11:00 a.m. The Caro VFW Auxiliary Post 4164 will present a service of remembrance on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorial contributions to Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
