Neva M. Hendon, age 94, passed away Wednesday, July 18, 2012 at Maplewood Manor in Clio. Neva was born August 30, 1917 in Ellington Township, the daughter of the late Bert & Augusta (Faedie) King. She was united in marriage with Aubrey Hendon on September 11, 1937, and the couple cherished more than forty-seven years together before his death in 1984. Neva attended the Caro United Methodist Church and was an avid walker. She also enjoyed spending time at the "Clothes Room" in Caro and Mayville, sewing on her treadle sewing machine, mowing her lawn and spending time at the senior center.
Neva is survived by one son and his wife, Charles Allen & Judy Hendon of Clio; twelve grandchildren and their spouses, Dan Hendon of Mt. Morris, Daren Hendon of Flint, Dean Hendon of Lansing, Dion Hendon of Gladwin, Daphne & Scott Shumaker of Clio, Courtney Hendon of Clio, Rex Burpee of Montrose, Janeen & Russ McNew of Clio, Laura & Mark Byerly of Lapeer, James & Tonya Burpee of Kansas, Rebekah & Rick Beers of Lapeer, Paige Chapman of Frankenmuth; and many great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, Neva was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Dawn Hendon; three brothers and two sisters, Floyd, Lewis, Edwin and Fern King and Loretta Turner.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Monday, July 23, 2012 at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home in Caro with Rev. Dr. John Bailey officiating. Burial will follow at Flint Memorial Park.
